Happy Easter, 2013!!

This year we celebrated Easter with Logan's family yesterday and my family today.  Yesterday we went out to Rockwall for one of Mrs. Lowry's famous home cooked feasts, and it didn't disappoint!  Once we all had full tummies, we followed Knox's lead and everyone took a nap.  It was the perfect day.  :)  This morning Knox got to see what the Easter bunny brought him before we went to church.  Logan and I took Knox to the "family friendly" service so that he could stay with us.  He did great through all the music, but unfortunately the message just didn't hold his attention, so I had to walk him around the halls outside.  After church, we met my parents and grandparents for lunch and then headed back to my parent's house for dessert.  We had a great weekend spending time with family.

He was SO excited about his Easter basket!

Checking out the loot.

He is obsessed with this toy!  You push a button and it lights up and spins around.

Playing with the pinwheel with Daddy.

Table manners are for the birds!!

After a several week hiatus, I decided to get out the baby spoon again and let Knox have a go at trying to use it.  It actually went much better than I'd anticipated!  Yes, he got food all over his face, but I was mostly just thrilled that no food was flung across the kitchen!

Success!!!  A bite made it in his mouth!!!

Feeling pretty proud of himself.  ;)

All boy...

Knox has recently decided that he actually likes wearing his hat, and now he wants to wear it all the time.  It works out well because as it turns out, he looks super cute in it.  ;)

He likes to "sneak" up on this kitty, and pick it up by it's tail.

Verizon had to send us a replacement DVR, and for the few days it sat in the box before we had a chance to open it, Knox loved playing on the box.  He pushes this thing around all over the place.  And he's figured out he can use it as a step to climb up on to more things.  Smartie.  Here, he's just lounging on it while he watches his cartoon.

First Trip to the Aquarium

This week we visited the Aquarium in Grapevine with my friend Jenny and her daughter Sloane.  I wasn't sure if Knox was quite old enough yet to really enjoy it, but I think he had an okay time!  I had to keep him in the stroller most of the time - when I took him out, he kept trying to run as far away from me as fast as he could so he could explore!  Since it was so dark and crowded, poor guy had to just stay put in the stroller.

Not a great picture of either of us, but one of the few we got!

Jenny and Sloane inside the "shark walk".

A shark and a giant sea turtle!

Jellyfish.  (Yuck!)  I learned that jellyfish have no brain, heart, or blood.  So... what are they???  It baffles me.

Watching the jellyfish.

Sloane and Knox watching the Nemos.

After leaving the aquarium, we stopped and rode the carousel inside the mall.  It was Knox's first time on a carousel, and he liked it... for about 30 seconds.  Then I had to wrestle him to keep him on the horse until the ride was over!  I was so dizzy trying to hang on to him and keep my balance at the same time.  Yikes!  But overall, we had a really fun day!

Celebrating 16 Months With His First Happy Meal

What better way to celebrate Knox's 16 month birthday than by introducing him to the wonderful world of Happy Meals?!?
First bite... Not a great smile, but those eyes are amazing!  (How did I get such a blue eyed baby??)

He likes it!  A new McAddict is born!

French Fries.  McDonald's does 'em right.
He loves it.  Just like Mommy.  :)

Our 16 month milestones:
  • On February 17, 2013, he started saying "Milk", which sounds like "ilk".
  • On February 23, 2013, he used his first sign language sign, which was "more".  I'd been showing him a few signs off and on for a couple of months, but not consistently.  So I was surprised when he immediately picked it up when I started showing him the signs again.  Now, this is is favorite sign.  He knows he can keep getting more food this way!
  • On February 27, 2013, he started signing "please".  Always good to have a well mannered baby.  ;)
  • on February 28, 2013 he started saying "Hi", but more importantly, he finally said "mamamama!"  I've waited so long to hear him make that sound, and it was beautiful!  He still doesn't necessarily use it to call me, but I'm just happy that he can make the sound.  :)
He's beginning to be a bit more picky with what he eats.  I think he might be a vegetarian.  (And I'm not kidding.)  He really doesn't want anything to do with meat.  (The McDonald's happy meal is an exception, because let's face it - it's probably not real meat, right?)  Anyway, the boy would eat an entire can of green beans or carrots if I'd let him.  He loves tomatoes, pickles, and olives.  He'll eat any fruit you put in front of him.  But he won't touch eggs or meat!  He's not a fan of sweets either.  It's not a bad thing.  It's just interesting.  :)

Park Date

Lately we've been able to have more play dates with our sweet neighbor, Harper!  All throughout the winter, Knox and Harper both had several colds - but never at the same time, so it seemed like when one baby would get well, the other was just getting sick!  Very happy to be putting the cold and flu season behind us!

Anyway, Brittany and I enjoy getting out and taking the kids for a walk, and today we walked to the park in our neighborhood.  It was Harper's first time on the swings.  She was a fan!

(I just love this picture.  He is so happy.)

Happy Birthday, Ross!

For my brother's birthday this year, we all met for dinner at Sauced, a local wings restaurant.  Happy Birthday, Rooster!  Hope you had a great one!

Silly boy, had so much fun playing with the empty containers!

Bitter beer face... but still so handsome.  :)

Opening his gifts.  His mother in law got him a sign for his new man cave at his new house.
