Taking a break from the Nyquil...

As I lay around the house today, sick with a cold, I thought to myself, "what better way to pass the time than to do a google search on celebrity plastic surgery". Sure, there are many other (more productive) things I could be doing, but this seemed like the thing that offered the longest possibility of procrastination. So, please forgive any bluntness you may encounter as I have just awoken from a 36 hour Nyquil induced coma and am full of opinions right now.

This first picture is what lead me to my google search. What the hell is wrong with Nicolas Cage's hair?? It hasn't been right for years, but I think there must be some sort of governmental conspiracy to cover it up because it's hard to find good photographic evidence of such a mishap. Even in his movies lately it looks like he's gotten the worst hair plugs available to man kind. I'd never given much thought about male celebrities having plastic surgery, but apparently it's not as rare as one may think. Who knew Ryan Gosling had a nose job??

And apparently so did Matt Dillon. (Truth be told, I did always wonder why his nose was so small on that big head of his...)

Ahhh, Nicole. Personally I've never thought she was very attractive. Probably because I was remembering the original Nicole Kidman from the 1980's. The pre-Botox Nicole. When you look at her now, she doesn't even remotely look like the same person. Is she attractive now? I guess so... but I think she cheated. And she can't move her face due to all the fillers.

Angelina. I was surprised to find quite a few articles about cosmetic surgery that Angelina has had. I'd always thought she looked pretty much the same as in her younger pictures. Turns out she probably has had a nose job. Looks like a good one to me - if she had one at all.

I'd never seen a "pre" picture of Michelle Pfeiffer. I always just thought she was born that beautiful, but apparently she's had a nose job, cheek implants, lip fillers and eye lifts. She doesn't really look like herself anymore, does she?

It pains me to list Heidi Montag as a "celebrity", but because of her significant plastic surgeries, I must include her. She used to be just an average looking girl. Now it's completely obvious how much surgery she's had - even if you hadn't seen the "before" photo.

Ugh. I hate Megan Fox. I don't know why every guy I know seems to start drooling at the mention of her name. I just don't get it. To me she looks like a trashy porn star, and she can't act. Wait.... maybe that's why they like her.... Anyway, apparently she's also had a nose job.

And Paris Hilton has also had a nose job. (Based on how she looked in 1998, it would appear that she's had a lot more than that done.)

Another person I didn't think had had plastic surgery - Jessica Simpson. But from this picture it really does look like she had a nose job. Maybe its the lighting? Her nose and eyes look pretty different though...

Giselle?? Yep. Nose job.

Scarlett?? Nose job.

Donatella Versace? Ugh. Too much to even comment on.

And they claim Christina Aguilera has had a nose job and her lips done.

Demi Moore denies any plastic surgery, but how can anyone actually look younger than their "before" photos? (They also claim that in addition to Botox, she's had a nose job and breast implants.)

Lastly, Brittany Murphy has a major case of the trout pout. Not cool Britt. A little goes a long way. And now, back to the Nyquil for me. Peace out.

Christmas came early!

Guess what that is... a box full of our wedding invitations and thank you cards!! They are beautiful!!

I still want the invitation to be a surprise, but here's a sneak peek of the outside. Its so exciting to finally get to see these in person. There's something about seeing our names printed out on the "real" invitation that makes it so official! Start checking your mailboxes in mid-February!

Is it just me...

...or did it ever creep anyone else out that the muppet's Swedish Chef was all muppet - except for his human hands? Ugh. It really makes me uncomfortable. I can remember watching the muppets as a kid and loving every minute. That is... until the Swedish Chef started throwing things around with his human hands! Why the human hands?? And while we're on it, why doesn't he have any eyes??

It was nearly impossible to find pictures of his human hands. In 99% of the pictures on the internet, they show him having muppet hands. You know why?? Because it was THAT creepy that his hands were real! But you can't trick me, Jim Henson. I remember.

While we're on the muppets, I absolutely loved Beaker. I loved his little voice, and his underbite. And his normal muppet hands.

And who doesn't love Kermit?? Classic. Before I found this picture of him, I never noticed how odd the black parts of his eyes are. Apparently they were always like that. Oh well. I love him anyway.

Sweet Lucy

The heat has been out in the condo, so it's been a bit chilly with all this cold weather lately! I bought a really great space heater for the bedroom, but when I first get home from work and it hasn't been on all day, it's obviously pretty cold. Lucy has NEVER been one to allow you to cover her up. The second a blanket touches her, she's up and moving so she doesn't have to be covered. The other night I realized just how cold the room was (58 degrees) when I covered her up, tucked her in, and she snuggled right into it. This is a documented first. Love that dog.

Sushi with the Thom-Speeds

Last week we went to Blue Fish with mike and Leanne for sushi. Logan was like a kid in a candy store - he was so excited that someone would actually eat the Ahi Tower and the more "adventurous" sushi with him. (Even though it actually tastes pretty good, the Ahi Tower has logs of tiny fish eggs in it, and I just can't wrap my brain around eating those when they pop in your mouth.)

Logan introduced Mike to his favorite sake. With the first sip Mike said it tasted like cough syrup, but after their third carafe it was safe to say Mike was a fan.

I stole these next two pictures from Leanne. She has an amazing professional type camera that makes the food look good even to people who don't like sushi. While Logan was introducing Mike to sake, I introduced Leanne to steamed edamame. While I view edamame as a vehicle to allow me to eat salt, it turns out it's actually pretty healthy. I am addicted. Logan's favorite part of Blue Fish is the sushi (as is any normal person's), but mine is the edamame. (And the pot stickers.)

We ordered enough sushi that they brought it out to us on a giant boat! Once again, Logan = kid in a candy store. (He'd "never gotten the boat before!")

Back to my camera pictures, here's the whole sushi boat. While Leanne and I were taking pictures of the food, Logan and Mike just kept begging us to let them eat already. :)

After dinner, we went over to Snookie's for drinks and to watch the end of the UT game. We were hoping UT would lose so TCU would have a shot at moving up, but unfortunately UT won. Barely. Anyway, with Leanne being the creative photographer that she is, she had the idea of taking a picture of Mike's mouth with my iPhone, and then having me hold it up in front of my face... or something. It was a cool idea in theory. I still think the picture is funny.

The Thom-Speeds. Or the Good-mases. Take your pick. I seriously just love these two. They are two of my absolute best friends, and they mean the world to me. They supported me through a rough time in my life which ended up bringing us closer, and they are two of my favorite people to hang out with. (Logan's too.) Can't wait for Cabo next year!!

Happy Thanksgiving 2009!!

This year Logan and I got to have TWO Thanksgivings! We spent Thursday with my family, and Saturday with his family since Lacie had to work through Friday. This was also the first year that I actually contributed any food worth mentioning. :) I know, I know. I'm 28 years old. I should have been bringing food to Thanksgiving dinner a looong time ago. But.... some of us are late bloomers, and at least I started now, right?

At my parent's house I made a Mexican Black Bean salad. Doesn't sound very Thanksgiving-y, and it's not, but it did taste good! Instead of buying anything pre-chopped or pre-prepared, I decided to use my new cooking skills and really go all in. I can't even tell you how long I stood there chopping and mincing things. As a point of reference, the recipe said it should take 28 minutes to prepare. It took me an hour and a half. I think its because I added so much love. Showing off the finished product!

We had so much food! I stole two recipes to take to the Lowry's Thanksgiving: my mom's corn casserole and Jessica's cheesey potato casserole. Both starches, both excellent. (I've been told to bring them to any Lowry family dinner from now on!)

Ross and Jessica also brought their newest family member, Parker. Ross got him for Jessica as an early Christmas present, and he is adorable!! Its easy to tell from the number of pictures I took of him how much fun I had cuddling with him. He still has puppy breath!

Logan and I got our first wedding gift in the mail the other day. Aunt Bari and Uncle Jeff sent us the Waterford toasting flutes we registered for! They are beautiful. They gave us permission to have a pre-wedding toast with them, and so we did! (Who says you can't watch football and drink champagne?!)

Thank you Aunt Bari and Uncle Jeff! We love them!
